The Wandrlustr & Valley Peaks Episodes 1 and 2

All right. I was feeling a bit pigeonholed by my material on here. I am a bit to specific on the precise nature of what I want this site to be. So to simplify, diversify, and stupefy I have created an addendum for Wandrlust; The Wandrlustr via tumblr. The link of which is located over in this region.

That being said the web series I am a co-person on, Valley Peaks, has finally launched after an inordinate amount of time. Episodes 1 and 2 are currently viewable on You Tube and our website ValleyPeaks.tv, tell your friends and enemies. Episode One can be viewed above but click the video and watch it on High Quality on the You Tube or our site. From now on new episodes of Valley Peaks will be announced and viewable from the The Wandrlustr, not Wandrlust. That is where you will find Episode Two.

I hope you enjoy the new editions to the Wandrlust family, find yourself.

“Valley Peaks” The Trailer - Hollywood, CA

Coming very soonish hopefully maybe.

Crockett & Miller / Splash Party (Feat. Brandon Rogers) - Hollywood, CA

I don’t know much about these sexy musicians other than the fact that they rock and roll, but I gleaned this from their bio:

“The ocean hits the break; the whale sings his song, the bird channels hope as it soars above the surf. Yet where heart wind and sun collide — Dave Crockett and Billy Miller are the human embodiment of nature’s song.

With the pulsing rhythms of life, music has never been so powerful, while also making you move your buns. Both classically trained for a few weeks, Crockett & Miller first met while doing a hiking expedition in the Mountains of Orlocko. After being introduced by the song of the Hawk, they decided to explore the grooves of life. With Crockett rocketing the keys and Miller blowing the sax — they became a duo filled with a Peter Pan Magical sense of what music needs: Love.

The Oakridge Estate - Northridge, CA

This here video, The Oakridge Estate, is Wandrlust’s inaugural post for what should be a myriad of pleasant video content that will be found exclusively here at Wandrlust … through You Tube…(cough)

You know what I love? I love spending all this time editing some HD footage so I can turn around and make it look like absolute ass on You Tube. That isn’t to say that this inaugural video for this here Wandrlust doesn’t have it’s own share of flaws within its hopefully brisk 5 minutes and 41 seconds.

The video above can be enjoyed without context (hopefully), but instead of making it 2 minutes longer and less interesting, I will provide the context within these texts. I will also provide some links here that will give a very thorough overview of the contentious situation regarding the Oakridge Estate. For those of you who are not as thoroughly invested I will summarize:

INOCHI - YOU ARE ALIVE!

I have always had an issue with video art. Usually the artist at the helm of a piece of video art does not have the same strength within the medium that an actual filmmaker has, because of this, the piece, which generally requires me to sit down for a period of time in a museum, is lackluster and amateurish at best. One can only say the opposite for Inochi, a piece of video art by contemporary Japanese Pop-Artist (a style dubbed as Superflat), Takashi Murakami.

You may know his artwork from Kanye West’s newest album Graduation or Murakami’s most recent venture with Louis Vuitton (both of which are showcased at his retrospective currently at the MOCA, going insofar as having a Vuitton store within the exhibit.) but what you should know Murakami for is his sculpture and video work. Rarely does one have the pleasure of seeing a video so provocatively strange to the point of being borderline disturbing, while simultaneously being extremely hilarious, and remarkably well made. With out further ado, Inochi:

You are alive gets me every time. Inochi (his own website is still under construction), along with Anime characters shooting milk from one breast into the other and a naked woman transforming into a jet, are all on display at the MOCA until  Febuary 11, 2008 and just to show you how helpful I am the MOCA is free every Thursday from 5-8 which really gives you no good excuse not to go.
